Duplantis breaks the world record of the legendary Bubka
Who is María Vasco today?
Right now I am dedicated to being a personal trainer, something that at first I did not want because I wanted to disassociate myself from the sport a bit because it has given me a lot but I have also suffered a lot. I am a person who is moved by passions and I always wanted to dedicate myself to the world of beauty. At the time I did not succeed but now I want to do it again and I want to merge beauty and sport because I think they are two compatible things. It would be the perfect set and I would be happy doing this.
When you look in the mirror, what do you see?
Well, I look older (laughs). I am a person who is dedicated to the world of sports and would never physically leave me. I don’t do the same sport but I take care of myself. I feel better than when I won the medal, I liked myself much more.
How about living in Menorca?

The Barcelona 1xbet live mobile Equestrian Circle yesterday organized one of its usual lunches / talks under its brand ‘Forum Barcelona Capital’. On this occasion, the situation of the Olympic movement was debated, what it means for a city to be an Olympic venue, how it is chosen and, in this specific case, what possibilities the Pirineus-Barcelona 2030 candidacy has.

Under the title ‘Barcelona Olympic Capital’, the vice-president of the International Olympic Committee, Juan Antonio Samaranch Salisachs, was in charge of varnishing all these issues before a broad representation of Barcelona’s civil society. In addition to prominent businessmen, Gerard Figueras, General Secretary of Sports and Physical Activity of the Generalitat de Catalunya and Gerard Esteva, president of the UFEC attended.
Juan Antonio Samarach, of whom Enric Lacalle said in his presentation that “one day I hope you will be the president of the IOC”, began by saying that “Barcelona needs another boost that gives value to the city, Catalonia and Spain”. He did not hesitate to affirm that the Pirineus-Barcelona 2030 Olympic bid „is a safe bet and right now there is no single technical reason for not being able to do so.“ Of course, he added that „now we have to convince the more than 100 members of the IOC who vote.“ In order to achieve this, he made a very clear and direct recommendation: „Political fights should be left out and they should all go hand in hand: city council, Generalitat and State.“
Samaranch put a lot of emphasis on what the IOC really values when it comes to awarding the organization of an Olympic Games, in this case Winter, to a city: “The legacy is very important. That is, what happens after those Games are held. What will be done with the existing facilities. For example, Pirineus-Barcelona would not be allowed to build a bobsleigh track if it does not have a use afterwards. In that sense, the selection rules have changed ”.
Regarding the dates of presentation of the candidacy and the rivals that Pirineus-Barcelona 2030 will have, such as Sapporo, Stockholm, Oslo and Salt Lake City, he commented: “Sapporo has already done all the duties at the governmental level, sponsorships and facilities, and has taken a step forward. And regarding Salt Lake City it is true that it can be a very serious competitor. However, a point in favor of the Pyrenees is that it is a virgin territory from the Olympic point of view. In other words, the world of winter sports would like to go to the Pyrenees … sometime ”.
The official presentation of the candidacy to the IOC would be made seven years before its celebration, that is, in 2023, although Samaranch stressed that “this 2020 is a very important year, critical I would say, to launch the dossier that must reach Lausanne ”. He also said that “now it is not necessary to build new infrastructures to make the candidacy a reality. We don’t need any that don’t already exist ”.
To finish, he stated that „everything has to be asked of civil society and it will give it, surely, as it has always done.“
„950 million already put by the IOC“
One of the star points of the discussion was to know, approximately, the total cost of organizing the games. He denied that they had to be deficient for the city: “There is a viability plan. We are talking about a direct cost of about 1,500 million dollars. Of that amount, 950 million is already put directly by the IOC, which in turn has obtained it from television rights. You have to count 300 more from ticket sales and a very similar number of national and local sponsors. In other words, we are talking about balanced accounts that also benefit the entire territory ”.
„Barça is a great ambassador"
During his presentation, Samaranch looked at Josep Maria Bartomeu, present at the lunch-colloquium, and said: “I would like to say and emphasize that the support of FC Barcelona is indispensable. He is the great ambassador of Barcelona, Catalonia and the territory ”. The president of Barça picked up the glove and winked, meaning that of course the club will support that candidacy when it becomes a reality. Samaranch, by the way, denied that Madrid wants to interfere with a summer candidacy in 2032: „The commitment of the Spanish Olympic Committee, Alejandro Blanco, is total with Pirineus-Barcelona.“

Sport climbing is one of the five new sports that will debut in the next Olympic Games in a combination of three different modalities (speed, block and difficulty). So to speak, it is as if in athletics the results of three different tests were counted.
There were six places at stake in the men’s category and, at 17, this young man born in Cáceres finished with the third best combined record of the 22 participants in the qualifying round of the pre-Olympic that was played in the French town of Toulouse. Ginés finished eleventh in block and speed and finished second in difficulty. These results have served him to win the place for Tokyo 2020.
The successes in Ginés‘ short career continue to follow one another at breakneck speed in his first season in the elite. In fact, in the final test of the World Cup, in Inzai (Japan), he got a silver and became the runner-up of the World Cup in the modality of difficulty in absolute category. The second in his record after the one achieved in Kranj (Slovenia) a month before.
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has reacted to the current Covid-19 pandemic and has suggested that the Olympics be postponed for a year.

"It’s just an idea, maybe put them off for a year, if that’s possible. It’s a shame, but I prefer this to the Olympics taking place in empty stadiums"Trump commented.
The cancellation of many sporting events and competitions in football, basketball, motor sports and others, suggests a possible suspension of the Olympic Games, probably the most important sporting event there is this year.
However, the organization continues to defend its celebration and assures that the great event remains scheduled between July 24 and August 9 of this year. A few days ago, the president of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, assured that the options "cancel or postpone were not on the table".
